Organisations in other countries providing information and resources

Several organisations outside the UK provide information applicable to the UK.

Danish Wind Industry Association -
As well as promoting the Danish wind industry, their extensive website includes a wide range of useful information on wind energy, with clear explanations of the science and technology of larger (non-urban) wind turbines.

European Wind Energy Association -
EWEA members include manufacturers covering most of the global wind power market, as well as component suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations, developers, electricity providers, finance and insurance companies and consultants.

Paul Gipe's website -
Paul Gipe lectures on wind energy and has written extensively about wind energy, for both the popular and trade press. This is his archive of articles and commentary, primarily on wind energy.

The Wineur Project -
This European project (Feb 2005 to April 2007) aims to identify the conditions that need to be established for the integration of small wind turbines into the urban environment, to promote the emergence of this technology and to raise awareness amongst municipal authorities and decision-makers.

WAsP -
WAsP is a PC program for predicting wind climates and power productions from wind turbines and wind farms. The predictions are based on wind data measured at stations in the same region. The program includes a complex terrain flow model, a roughness change model and a model for sheltering obstacles.
